Installation Guide

RANGE Bed System

Step-by-step instructions for installing your RANGE V3 bed system into your van.

1Parts Provided

  • RANGE bed vertical mounts – Rear ×2
  • RANGE bed vertical mounts – Front ×2
  • RANGE bed horizontals ×2
  • Rivets
  • Self-drilling screws
  • Stiffener Brackets ×3 (Optional)
  • Clamp Brackets ×4

2Tools Needed

  • Drill
  • 3/16" Drill bit
  • Phillips Driver for Drill
  • Rivet Setter

Part 1

Wall Mount Installation

Install the vertical brackets on both sides of your van

1

Install Stiffener Brackets (Optional)

Your kit includes 3 stiffener brackets. These are optional and not necessary for standard bed configurations. They are provided to future-proof the mounts and will allow the mounts to be used with single-sided beds and cantilever designs. If used, these brackets should be installed first.

2

Front Vertical Bracket – Driver's Side

Take the front vertical bracket for the Driver's Side of the van. There are 2 larger holes used to align the bracket with the existing holes in the van. Ensuring the bracket is facing the correct direction, choose the appropriate hole for your vehicle:

  • 148 EXT: use the rear-most hole
  • 148 Regular: use the front-most hole
3

Secure with First Rivnut

Use one of the golden rivnuts provided to hold the bracket in place temporarily while you confirm alignment.

4

Align and Rivet the Front Bracket

Ensure the bracket is vertical. You will find that one of the two available rivnut holes will align with an existing hole in your vehicle. Install one of the golden rivets into this hole. Your front bracket should now be held in place and correctly aligned.

5

Install the Rear Driver's Side Bracket

Take the rear driver's side bracket. Using the same method as the front, align and install the bracket using the golden rivnut. Note: there is no bottom rivnut hole — the van's body will ensure correct alignment of the bracket.

6

Secure Brackets with Self-Drilling Screws

Following the order shown in the guide, secure the bracket to the wall with self-drilling screws:

  • Use a self-drilling screw through the top hole to secure the top of the bracket
  • Use a self-drilling screw through any hole in the bottom of the bracket to secure it
  • Then use holes 3, 4 and 5 to pull the flanged portion of the bracket close to the van wall
7

Drill Remaining Holes and Rivet

Use a drill with a 3/16" drill bit to drill through all remaining holes in both the front and rear brackets.

⚠ This will increase the size of the hole in the bed brackets. This is inherent in the design and ensures a tight fit with no potential for slippage.
  • Be very careful to limit drill penetration on the rear bracket as the factory loom passes through this area
  • Pushing the loom away where it enters the van wall can help
  • If in doubt, a self-drilling screw can be used to make the holes rather than the drill bit
  • Use the provided rivets to secure the brackets to the wall
  • Finally, choose your bed height and mount the horizontal brackets using the provided M8 bolts
8

Passenger Side – Repeat

Repeat this entire process on the passenger side of the van. For the rear mount, use the floor-to-hole measurement to ensure the brackets are installed level with one another.

Part 2A

Bed Panel Installation – North/South

For North South Fixed and North South Sliding configurations

1

Pre-Install T-Nuts

Pre-install the provided M8 16mm T-nuts into the bed panels as shown in the guide.

2

Slide on Aluminium Rails

Flip each bed panel and slide the aluminium rail over the T-nuts installed in Step 1. Set the rails with an even gap on either end.

3

Lock Rails in Place

With the bed panels still upside down, tighten at least one of the bolts on each rail to lock the rails in place.

4

Flip and Tighten

Flip the panels back over and tighten the remaining bolts.

5

Place Panels in Van

Place the bed panels into the van with the mountain logo facing up, as shown in the guide.

6

Connect Panels with Joiner Plates

Use the 4 joiner plates provided to connect the panels together. Slide the T-nuts into the aluminum rails (the rails that are touching). Connect the Front and Rear panels to the Mid panel using the joiner plate locations marked in the guide.

7

Add Side Extensions

Add the side extensions. If you did not order the wall system, these extensions are provided oversized and may need to be trimmed to fit your application. Using the provided M6 bolts, secure the side extensions to the main bed frame using the appropriate hole pattern for your setup.

8

Slide Rails and Tighten

With fasteners pre-installed, slide the rails into place. If needed, shift the side extensions to fit your walls. A gap between the main bed and side extensions is acceptable. When placement is correct, tighten down all 8 bolts.

9

Drop M6 Bolts Through Panels

Drop the 4 M6 × 90mm bolts through the slots provided in the bed panels. These bolts connect the bed panels to the horizontal brackets installed earlier. With a helper, place the large washer onto the M6 × 90mm bolt, then the nut. Tighten these nuts lightly.

10

Install Clamp Brackets

Take the 4 clamp brackets, 4 M8 T-slot nuts and 4 M8 bolts. Roll the 4 T-slot nuts into the bottom side of the cross rails. Thread the M8 bolts through each clamp bracket and tighten a few turns. Finally, slide the clamp bracket along the rail until it overlaps the cross beam and tighten the M8 bolts.

Part 2B

Bed Panel Installation – East/West

For East/West (sideways) bed configurations

1

Pre-Install T-Nuts in Rear Panel

Pre-install the provided M8 16mm T-nuts in the Rear panel only, as shown in the guide.

2

Attach Rails to Rear Panel

Flip the bed panel and slide the aluminium rail over the T-nuts installed in Step 1. Set the rails with an even gap on either end. With the panel still upside down, tighten at least one bolt on each rail to lock. Flip back over and tighten remaining bolts.

3

Lay Rear Panel in Van

Lay this panel in the van with the castle profile aligned as shown. The rear and mid panel will align.

4

Position Mid Panel

Slide the mid panel forward until aligned. Roll in 3 M8 T-nuts level with the holes, then slide the mid panel back into its final position.

9

Attach Loose Cross Rail

Take one of the cross rails and slide it up to the corresponding cross rail already installed in the mid panel. Leave this loose in place.

10

Pre-Install Front Section Hardware

Take the front section and pre-install the fasteners as highlighted in the guide.

11

Install Front Section

Slide the front section back until it almost overlaps the loose rail installed in Step 9. Install M8 roll-in T-nuts level with the holes in the front panel, then slide the front panel over the top and secure with M8 bolts.

12

Attach Latch

Using 4 M8 roll-in T-slot nuts and 4 M8 bolts, attach the latch to the front-most 8 holes.

13

Install Clamp Brackets

Take the 4 clamp brackets, 4 M8 T-slot nuts and 4 M8 bolts. Roll the 4 T-slot nuts into the bottom side of the cross rails. Install these clamps on the non-sliding cross rails only. Thread the M8 bolts through each clamp bracket and tighten a few turns. Slide the clamp bracket along the rail until it overlaps the cross beam, then tighten the M8 bolts.
